We all know deep down this world is complex, ordered, and mind-blowingly interconnected. A system of
order from the subatomic to the galactic. Some of our best scientists believe we live in a simulation;
the Bible tells us that God will roll up the heavens like a scroll. When our best thought the world
was flat, Job said that God's throne was above the circle of the earth, and that God hung the earth on
"nothing" highlighting that the earth is suspended in space without a visible support. We call it an
axis and orbit in this day. A system of law and order. Creation points to an intelligent and powerful
Creator that stands outside of creation.
Consider the moral law: None of us can stand up to the standard that the God of Israel gave to the
Hebrew people, and the law is written on our hearts. We know lying and stealing is wrong, we know how
we feel when we are stolen from. We know that hurting one another is wrong, because we know how it
feels to be hurt. We broke the law. The Judge stands at the door, and the lawgiver gave those laws,
both to creation, and a law to us. Being that we broke that law, God warned us ahead of time, that
breaking that law lead to death.
America casually curses the name of God, blasphemes Him, ignores His laws, and goes after idols of its
own making: self, pride, status, income, goods, and symbols of success. We are law breakers, and
because the wrath of God is not threatened, but promised on all unrighteousness of men; and that the
wrath of God rests upon the ungodly, we need to realize, we are not the good people we pretend to be.
The 10 commandments are not God's only commandments, but using them, we can envision our case before
God on judgement day. We put things and stuff before God creating idols, we have nearly all blasphemed
His name, we all have told lies, disrespected our parents, fornicated, we are all adulterers, and we
know this because Jesus stated that lust in the mind is adultery at heart. We all have coveted that
which is not ours, whether it be women, cars, houses, money, and this may be hard to swallow, but if
you have ever hated someone, God considers you to be a murderer at heart. That's how serious hatred is
before a Holy God. We've all stolen something, whether it was something small, or even software, a
media, like a song or movie.
Let's look at our case on judgement day: We are all idolatrous, blasphemers, who are irreverent not
only of God, but our parents who fed and clothed us, murderous, adulterous thieves, who are practiced
liars, coveting everything around us...
On judgement day, considering the above, do you want to face God without a Savior? Who will advocate
for you? God promises to shut every mouth that raised up in defense of itself. God will show us
everything, and we will agree with him.
Lord Jesus is that savior, is that advocate. For those who choose to rely on Him, and do not deny Him
here, He will not deny before the Father: "I know this one". Everyone needs the Savior. If you think
you are a good person, a moral person, I can promise you, based on the 10 commandments alone, you're
in mortal danger.
Lord Jesus asks two things of us: First: Look at the sin in our lives, change our minds about it
(repent) and forsaking those sins (stop habitually sinning.) Second: To believe that He came here,
laid down His life, and took on the wrath of God on our behalf, and that God of whom Jesus is One
with, raised Him from the dead. All we need do is place our faith in Him, that He paid, and honor Him,
keeping His words. We can't earn it, and we're still going to fail, but if we love Him we fight
against the practice of sin. God bless you all.
